Re-mark 9.4 km of internal roads and pedestrian crossings across Sharjah's University City campus, with traffic-calming humps, raised pedestrian crossings and dedicated shuttle-bus lanes. The work had to be sequenced around the academic calendar with zero disruption during exam weeks.
The Challenge
Re-mark 9.4 km of internal roads and pedestrian crossings across Sharjah's University City campus, with traffic-calming humps, raised pedestrian crossings and dedicated shuttle-bus lanes. The work had to be sequenced around the academic calendar with zero disruption during exam weeks.
Our Solution
Specified hot-applied thermoplastic for all lane lines, edge lines and pedestrian crossings, with preformed thermoplastic symbols for shuttle lanes and stop bars. Anti-skid calcined bauxite was applied on all raised crossings and humps for wet-weather skid resistance.
Execution
Crews water-blasted ghost lines, applied thermoplastic at 3.0 mm with simultaneous glass-bead dispensing, and added 14 raised pedestrian crossings with anti-skid surface. Work was scheduled in term-break windows plus overnight shifts during exam weeks, achieving zero daytime disruption.

The facility had to remain operational throughout, with marking applied in classified areas only during permit-controlled shutdowns.
