The Challenge
Install a chemical-resistant epoxy floor across a 5,400 m² Sharjah manufacturing facility producing polymer compounds, with daily chemical exposure, forklift traffic and hot-process zones. The client required 5-day production downtime maximum across the full floor installation.
Our Solution
Specified a 4 mm trowel-applied epoxy mortar system with novolac topcoat in chemical-handling zones and a polyurethane topcoat in assembly zones. The system was installed in 3 phased sections over 3 weekends, allowing production to continue in two-thirds of the facility at all times.
Execution
Slab was moisture-tested, shot-blasted to CSP-4, primed, and the 4 mm epoxy mortar was trowel-applied in 3 weekend phases. Novolac topcoat was applied to 1,800 m² of chemical-handling zone, with polyurethane topcoat on the remaining 3,600 m². Coved skirting to 150 mm was installed throughout for wash-down hygiene.
