Madinah Pilgrim Corridor Thermoplastic Marking
Re-mark 7.2 km of pilgrim corridor roads in central Madinah with high-UV-resistance, pedestrian crossings and shuttle-bus lane segregation ahead of Ramadan and Hajj seasons. The corridor had to remain open to pilgrim traffic throughout, with marking scheduled in night-shift windows only.
The Challenge
Re-mark 7.2 km of pilgrim corridor roads in central Madinah with high-UV-resistance, pedestrian crossings and shuttle-bus lane segregation ahead of Ramadan and Hajj seasons. The corridor had to remain open to pilgrim traffic throughout, with marking scheduled in night-shift windows only.
Our Solution
Specified a 3.5 mm hot-applied thermoplastic system with Type II glass beads for night delineation, anti-skid aggregate on 14 pedestrian crossings, and preformed thermoplastic hazard arrows at intersection approaches. A dedicated red-pigmented shuttle-bus lane was added along 2.4 km of the corridor.
Execution
Crews worked 11pm–5am night windows, water-blasting ghost lines and applying thermoplastic at 185°C. A total of 32 km of line was applied across 7.2 km of corridor, with anti-skid surface on 14 raised pedestrian crossings, 24 hazard symbols at intersections, and 2.4 km of red shuttle-bus lane.
